As members of this organization, colleagues, and friends, we’ve developed bonds and relationships that allow us to communicate and connect. The third quarter, or the New Beginning Quarter, gave all of us the opportunity to leave the past and look forward to our most prosperous futures!

This year has proven to be a rebuilding year, one that holds great potential and ideal progress. While the overall budget and dues increase seemed to put our chapter in uncomfortable situations, we’re making great strides to a speedy recovery:
  • Introduced meeting fees in January to help with our financial shortage
  • Set up GoToWebinar to show monthly meetings online
  • Provided programs of value on both tools and enhancing your current skill sets

Our progress as an organization doesn’t stop there! There are many chapters across the nation that are holding conferences, universities and colleges that are holding various classes related to our field (i.e., Camtasia at Wake Tech), and of course our very own Terry Smith held webinars on FrameMaker.

On March 11, we held the 2010 Awards Banquet. Another great success, we celebrated the grand accomplishments of our colleagues. This was a night filled with honor, distinction, and class. Congratulations to all winners, and especially to
  • Rick Sapir, winner of the Carolina Chapter's Distinguished Chapter Service Award (DCSA) as well as the international Technical Editing SIG's Distinguished SIG Service Award (DSSA)
  • Michelle Corbin, winner of STC Fellow
  • Ann-Marie Grissino, winner of STC Fellow

If you have ideas for programs or what you’d like to see from our chapter, please let us know. We drive from your input—you, the members, make our chapter.

Here’s to another successful quarter!!
