This quarter we take a peek into the past to remember, reflect, and learn so we can plan for the future.

"How did I get here?" It's a simple question, but its answer is complex. The critical decision points of how you ended up in this career, in this city, may very well surprise you. Darren West, a technical communications student at NCSU, describes his critical decision to go back to school, all starting with a video game manual.

Andrew Malcolm, an STC member of nearly 50 years, reflects on his entrance into the technical writing world and how technology has changed over five decades in this interview with Jamie Gillenwater.

Have your elementary school grammar lessons stuck with you over the years? Take this 5th grade grammar quiz to find out. If you like it, vote to let us know because a "Grammar Refresher for Technical Writers" quarterly column may make its debut next quarter.

Every year the Carolina chapter reflects on past successes and current needs to plan for the future. Bill Bryan summarizes the results from the 2012 Vision Day.

Instead of looking back, Chapter president Andrea Wenger looks forward to the upcoming events, including the annual judging competition, the SpeedCon Unconference, and a surprise October social.

How did you get to where you are today? We want to hear your story. (Email me to be considered for future editions!)
