Donn DeBoard, STC Fellow
My name is Donn DeBoard. I'm humbled and honored to be a candidate for a position on the Nominating Committee. I'm an STC Fellow who has been a lifelong STC advocate in the workplace.
STC is essentially about relationships. The strength of my STC experience has been the personal and professional relationships I've made over the years.
I'm always looking for a way to improve things. I tend to listen first to understand an issue. I am the first to admit that I don't have all the answers. However, I can ask many questions to the most knowledgeable people available to connect the dots to find an answer.
I've been involved in STC at every stage of my evolving career as a technical communicator. My STC service as a servant-leader, advocate, and mentor form a solid foundation for the Nominating Committee position. This position provides an opportunity to serve the broader STC community. I'd like to ask for your vote in the election.
I’m interested in the Nominating Committee position to help connect STC members with leadership positions. Effective STC leadership requires a firm foundation in the local STC chapters. I’ve been active in STC programs and leadership on the chapter, SIG, and international levels for more than 25 years.
When we share our personal journey through STC, we demonstrate the value of STC. This value may start as a job-related or conference connection. These connections became the professional relationships and friendships that were foundational to my growth as a technical communicator. STC has been the one constant in my career. This is my STC success story.
Experienced and new technical communicators will partner together in STC’s growth. Individual STC members will move the Society forward one STC success story at a time. I want to help others connect their STC success stories to STC leadership. Where will your STC success story take you?
