I'm very excited to be taking on the mantle of President for STC Carolina. As a professor who has close ties to members of industry, I have always looked for ways to create better relationships between industry and academia. I have big shoes to fill in following Christina Mayr, however, and I have greatly appreciated her mentoring as I take on this new role.

As President, I hope to continue the long history of serving technical communication professionals in this region by fostering compelling programming, reaching out to new members, and solidifying the mentoring role of the organization. I firmly believe that STC Carolina is uniquely positioned as an organization that can help new technical communicators with the transition from school to work while also assisting experienced tech comm professionals by providing cutting-edge training.

Over the past year, I have worked closely with Immediate Past President Christina Mayr to develop and expand the STC Carolina Mentoring initiative as the chair of the Mentoring Committee. I hope to continue this work by providing regular mentoring events, opportunities, and outreach as well as developing new and innovative programs that cater to students, new tech comm professionals, and experienced tech comm professionals.
