Boxes everywhere. Submission forms piled high. E-mails flying around.

Welcome to the competitions season in full swing. Our entries are due at the end of September each year. During the fall, the competitions team gets the entries, enters them in an Excel spreadsheet, and prepares hem for the judges. We get our judge surprise packages together (to give to judges during the training session) and prepare or the training. In mid-October we hold the STC Carolina’s Judge Team and Training Session at the IBM Recreational Center.

Judges have about a month to complete their evaluations, meet as a team, and decide as a group the award levels for each entry. The judges also identify candidates for Best of Show. Best of Show meetings are held during early December. All entries earning the highest award (Distinguished) continue on to the international competition held in February. Lastly, the STC Carolina chapter holds its gala event, the Awards Banquet, at a prestigious location in March each year. This year, by popular demand, we are again holding the banquet at the Prestonwood Country Club in Cary.

  • Technical Art committee: Heath Sides (mgr) and Yvonne Earnshaw
  • Technical Publications committee: Rebecca Postupack-Slifer (co-mgr), Betsy Kent, Julio Vazquez (co-mgr)
