Meeting Recap
- What: Annual Membership Drive and Picnic
- When: Thursday, September 13th, 2007

Sheila Loring
The Carolina chapter held its annual membership drive/picnic at Lake Crabtree in Morrisville this year. The luau theme was so fun last year, the chapter decided to go Hawaiian again. Guests were greeted with multicolored leis, and daring members donned their craziest Hawaiian-style shirts.
After noshing and networking, our knowledge of Hawaiian history and culture was put to the test. Who was King Kamehameha? Did Hawaiians really wear grass skirts? Between heated debates, the crowd thoroughly edited the quiz (which is quite natural in a group of writers and editors).
To lighten things up, we voted for the best Hawaiian shirt and held raffles for various items. Congratulations to the following winners:
- Anne Johnson: 1 year free STC membership
- Michael Harvey: Free entrance to the DITA 2007 Conference, October 4 to 6, 2007 (courtesy Bright Path Solutions)
- Larry Kuntz: Free entrance to the FrameMaker Chautauqua Conference, February 14 to 15, 2008 (courtesy Bright Path Solutions)
- Chris Benz: FrameMaker 7: Publishing Fundamentals (courtesy Scriptorium Publishing Services)
- Anne Johnson: FrameMaker 7: Publishing Fundamentals (courtesy Scriptorium Publishing Services)

So make plans to attend the annual membership drive/picnic next September! It's a great opportunity to catch up with friends and meet new faces.
