Serving as your vice president has only increased my enthusiasm about serving as your president this coming year! I am excited to have a chance to lead this extremely active chapter, which works hard to provide education and networking opportunities for its members!

I look forward to working with the administrative council, SIG leaders, and volunteers to evaluate, strengthen, and promote our chapter’s existing services and to identify additional member needs. And I look forward to hearing from you about how we can better serve you and further your career.

Here’s where I would like our chapter to focus this year:
  • Develop an XML Resource Center to provide access to XML standards and training, authoring tools, and various XML organizations
  • Hold our first local conference since 2002. A conference committee is recruiting volunteers to help organize and generate ideas for Tri-Doc 2005. Please visit the STC Carolina website at http://www.stccarolina.org/conference for more information about the conference and how to volunteer.
  • Earn a Chapter of Distinction award. The Chapter Achievement award recognizes a chapter’s accomplishments in achieving Society goals. See http://www.stc.org/awards_chptachievement.asp for more information.
After receiving the Chapter of Excellence award two years in a row, we plan this year to apply for and earn a Chapter of Distinction.

If would like to learn how to get more involved with our chapter, please send an email to me at adukes1 at nc dot rr dot com. End of article.
