2009 is slowing coming to an end, but the memories of all that's happened over the past year are still fresh in our minds. As I look back at the year in review, I see that a lot of changes have been taking place, especially in the fourth quarter: The economy is still undergoing change, our attitudes about our jobs are changing, and STC is changing. In this quarter's issue of Carolina Communique, we have included articles that reflect all of these types of changes:

• Andrea's article discusses how to establish an online presence--something you might not have thought of doing in the past.
• Christina's meeting recap of Aimee Streicher's presentation, Graphics Tips for the Technical Communicator, shares tips and tricks that you can start to use as you enhance your technical communication skills.
• Sarah's article addresses the increase in STC dues for 2010 and shares her thoughts about STC's value from a mercenary's point of view.
• Diana's article lists 22 things STC is doing for our chapter. This list provides a detailed education on the relationship between Society and our chapter.
• Bea's president's message reflects on the past year and what STC Carolina is offering in 2010.

The Communique staff hopes that you will consider writing an article (or two!) for the newsletter in 2010. Tell us how your career has changed over the past year. Or, describe the changes that you have seen in the profession or in the Society. Our goal is to keep you informed of what is happening in our community, Society, and profession. We hope that this issue inspires you to keep up with the changes on a personal level and contribute your thoughts to our newsletter.
