By Christina Eftekhar, Carolina Communiqué Managing Editor
Change is constant, especially in our industry. We as professional communicators are continually working to keep up with rapidly advancing technologies, shifting user needs, and a quickly expanding social network that's threatening to dominate every aspect of our lives.
It can be hard to keep up with change on your own, which is why I'm glad I have a group of writers that I can rely on, learn from, and socialize with. President Sheila Loring shows the sometimes forgotten social benefits of our chapter, and Social Coordinator Ben Davidson recaps a lively DITA discussion had over dinner.
Speaking of DITA, many companies in the area have converted to DITA, which is a huge undertaking. To take it a step further, DITA can help writers better reach a global audience, and presentations at chapter meetings, like the one Ralph Besser recaps, are especially helpful in navigating these major shifts.
We all have shifts in our careers; some slight and hardly noticeable, others dramatic and scary. Laura Dragonette shows how her career has changed since college, and where it's headed now.
Lastly, the landscape of the Carolina Chapter is on the precipice of major change. We encourage everyone to be involved to help make this chapter even better in a continually changing industry.
