The STC Technical Editing (TE) SIG established a scholarship in 2007 that awards two scholarships: one to an undergraduate and one to a graduate student who is pursuing a degree in Technical Communication.

In 2009, the TE SIG named the scholarship in honor of a dear friend of the SIG, Diane Feldman. Diane was an Associate Fellow of STC and was the manager of the Technical Editing SIG for seven years. Yes, you read that correctly—seven!

Diane was also (among many other volunteer roles) a past president of the Carolina Chapter and founder of the Chapter Competitions. Her exceptional leadership, selfless contributions, and enthusiasm left a lasting mark on STC, her friends, and her coworkers.

In April 2010, Diane passed away after a battle with cancer. STC Carolina Chapter and the TE SIG have joined together to honor Diane, an integral member of both communities, with a third scholarship for a graduate student pursuing a career in Technical Communication. This year, the funding for this third scholarship comes from the Carolina Chapter. The Chapter is collecting donations in Diane's name in order to fund the third scholarship again next year.

To make a donation to the Diane Feldman Technical Editing Scholarship, please mail your check to:

STC Carolina Chapter
P.O. Box 813
Cary, NC 27512

Make checks payable to "STC Carolina Chapter" and indicate in the memo field that the donation is for the "Diane Feldman Scholarship." The full amount of your donation is tax-deductible. Your canceled check will be your receipt.
