When I first encountered the World Wide Web, in the early 1990s, the browsers were primitive, there weren’t that many web sites, and not too many technical communicators used the web to get their jobs done. At the beginning of the 21st century, browsers are quite sophisticated, there are literally millions of sites, and it is difficult to imagine any technical communicator not using the web each day to get the job done.

STC Carolina Chapter understands the power of the World Wide Web as a communication tool. Our chapter’s web site has changed over the past few years to provide you what you need to know about us, when you need it. Now it’s time to take the next step.

This newsletter is the last one you’ll receive from us, at least for a while. Starting with the November issue, you’ll be able to access the newsletter through www.stc-carolina.org.

Using web format rather than print will let us get information to you more creatively and more quickly. It will allow more flexibility in terms of layout, color, the posting of articles, and the potential to hyperlink to relevant articles elsewhere on the web. It will also be less expensive, enabling us to devote more of our budget to other member benefits. We’ll provide a way for you to give us feedback, so please tell us what you think!
