My Vision for STC
In today’s constantly changing business environment, knowledge workers are a vital asset. I know this firsthand because I manage a global team of technical communication professionals. It is important that STC provides information that our members can use to leverage their communication skills to identify, understand, and solve their organizations’ business problems. This union of our skills with enterprise needs will, in turn, help us quantify the value of our work and show our organizations the benefit of employing and involving skilled communicators.
STC's mission is to ensure that the society flourishes in furthering of the technical communication discipline and advancing our members’ skills. STC must continue to evolve, just as our discipline has. If elected, I would work to continue the expansion of STC’s educational benefits focused on business subjects, as well as the distribution of useful data to help our members demonstrate their tangible economic value. And all of STC’s educational offerings should serve as a foundation for our other member benefits, such as the recently reopened certification program, Special Interest Group content and networking, and partnerships with related associations.
STC is poised to help, promote, and empower communicators improve their positions, their careers, and their lives. I’d like to use my years of tech comm, business, and STC experience to help lead this organization to the convergence of business and communication.
Thanks for your support in my candidacy for STC Vice President.
